Over many years, customers have contacted us with issues caused due to poor quality of gemstone setting skills so often seen in mass-produced jewellery, and even high street jewellery.
Poorly set prongs & inappropriate prong designs are not just visually unattractive but can cause precious gemstones to be lost after a prong/claw breaks or gets bent.
Another issue seen is when poorly set prongs stick out which causes them to be caught on clothes.
The way the stone will be secured in the setting is also a factor to consider. For customers who wish to wear jewellery, whilst being physically active, we recommend bezel-type settings and jewellery made from harder precious metals e.g. gold (at least 9ct .375) rather than silver.
At EVGAD we design our prongs with robustness in mind at an equal level to aesthetics. We create jewellery that is lastingly beautiful and so brings long-lasting happiness. All our prongs are set by a master goldsmith under a high-magnification microscope and using a great variety of professional tools. The settings then go through a rigorous quality control process to ensure a premium quality setting result.
So what can you do if you have jewellery that you like but has a poor stone setting of quality of pongs?
We offer prong adjustment and repair for those who wish to improve their jewellery.
An example is shown below. The customer sent us a couple of rings with poorly set prongs that were catching on their clothes.
We repaired them giving them a new lease of life and making them look better than new.
